Ashton adds to EEAS staff

Foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton has appointed Maria Marinaki as managing director for global and multilateral issues in the European External Action Service.

Marinaki is currently based in Vienna as permanent representative of Greece to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe – which works across North America, Europa and Asia on conflict prevention and crisis management . She has served as a Greek diplomat in Washington, Berlin and Brussels.

Ashton said: "Maria is an experienced diplomat who will make an important contribution to our work on a wide range of issues, including human rights and non-proliferation."
