Will new French president Francois Hollande's emphasis on growth persuade Germany to be more flexible in its demands for austerity in struggling eurozone countries?

And neither should it. The party is over and now we have the hangover. A post-globalisation EU cannot continue to live beyond its means according to forecasts based on pre-globalisation growth rates. This is our new economic reality and we should get used to living within our new budgets. Sure we need growth - but if we feel the only way to achieve that is by buying it with increased public spending, we truly are in a sorry state.
