Are fair play and endeavour - as demonstrated by the Olympic athletes - a better example for our young people than reality TV, celebrity culture and Premiership football?

I am sick and tired of the so called celebrity culture where young people want and expect to be come famous with absolutely no effort or talent. Compare that to sports people who work for years to get where they are, very often without celebrity status or success.

Without a shadow of a doubt. The worrying thing is that this question has to be asked in the first place, and shows what kind of society we now live in. Is it just me that finds the celebrity culture and so on mentioned as boring and pointless? Maybe the Olympics/Paralympics seems like too much hard work. How do you change a culture to appreciate the values of the Games?

I am surprised that the universities have not yet offered a degree in how to be celebrity. Almost easier than media studies or art, I am sure if one did it would be hugely oversubscribed.
